Irvine, CA – In a momentum building announcement community leader and non profit manager, Tammy Kim announced the endorsement of Congressman Mark Takano. Elected in 2012, Representative Takano made history as the first openly gay person of color to be elected to Congress.

Representing California’s 41st Congressional District the United States House of Representatives he currently serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, and as a member of the Education and Labor Committee.

In announcing his endorsement, Congressman Mark Takano stated:

“As a strong supporter of women in leadership, I am proud to support Tammy Kim for Irvine City Council. Her diverse experience in the non-profit and corporate arenas will make her a great asset on the City Council. She has a proven track record of delivering results for the community and I look forward to her voice on the Council.”

Tammy Kim is a dedicated public servant and community leader. Currently, she serves as the Managing Director of the Korean American Center, which is one of the largest Asian Pacific Islander non-profits in Orange County.

In addition to her non-profit work, Tammy is a successful businesswoman. She spent 20 years as a business executive, where she worked with both local start-up companies and Fortune 500 companies to help them improve business functions. Tammy helped to resolve highly complex business, management, and legal issues within large-scale enterprises. Additionally, she volunteers countless hours in her community as the Chair of the Language Access Committee for the Orange County Registrar of Voters, a member of Irvine's Complete Count Committee for the 2020 Census, and as an advisor and mentor for the Korean American Young Leaders program.

Tammy's vision for Irvine includes creating policies that will produce viable solutions for affordable housing, increasing language access throughout local government, and bringing high-quality jobs for Irvine residents, which will generate revenue to increase our tax base. She will ensure Irvine is a community where our working families, our teachers, our public safety personnel, our small business owners, among others can afford to live, work and enjoy.
